About this charge
Under the Traffic Safety Act, leaving the scene of a collision can bring seven demerit points, a fine of up to $2,000, and a licence suspension, and the same conduct can, depending on the circumstances, be charged criminally. Even minor contact with an unattended vehicle can found a charge where no note was left. The insurance consequence is severe, and these matters should never simply be paid.
